To play the game, all it takes is you and your friends. If you've never played before, you might consider the D&D Basic Game, suitable for ages 12 and older; the Basic Game takes new players and dungeon masters through every step of the game, from creating characters to running the adventure. We've even published a continuation of this adventure, available for download on the official D&D website, which offers further tips on how to play. From there, the three core rulebooks: the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide and Monster Manual, offer a wealth of further information. D&D also offers a variety of supplemental material, including books on various game world settings, such as the 2005 Origins Award winning Eberron, different environments, further class information, more monsters—essentially, there's information available on any facet of the game that most interests you. If you're searching for a new gaming group, there are a number of resources to try. On the message boards, you'll find a listing of players looking for groups to join. You might also consider the RPGA, the Roleplaying Gamers Association—this is the official network dedicated to providing play opportunities and support for Dungeons & Dragons and other d20 System games.
