With such an abundance of fruit available at the store and better still, the farmers' market, I am sharing an array of desserts that feature some seasonal favorites. At the end of the day, though, a piece of fresh ripe fruit or a handful of just-picked berries makes the perfect guilt-free, low-fat treat.

In the Spotlight
Broiled Nectarines with Brown Sugar and Sour Cream
This is one of those simple yet sublime desserts that make a perfect ending to a summer meal with family and friends. Substitute peaches for the nectarines if you wish, and, of course, you can grill them instead of broiling them if you prefer.

Cherry Turnovers
Pocket-sized cherry pies made with fresh, sweet Bing Cherries, wrapped in flaky phyllo pastry.

Quick and Easy Strawberry Shortcake
This is dessert in a hurry, but the end result is an attractive low-fat sweet treat good enough for company.
