 | Although the time has changed and we're now saving daylight, it doesn't seem remotely like spring. As I type this from Northern California, I'm looking out the window at huge snow flakes. Snow is also pelting Scotland at the moment. Odd weather makes me want to think about such things as cruising the Turkish coast, so that's what we're featuring this week, along with an interesting WWI remembrance tour and some interesting stuff from Mr. Bourdain. Next week we'll be in Europe, working away for you. | |
Lille WWI Remembrance Tours
The tourist office in Lille, France, has added another WWI remembrance tour you can take from the northern France city on the TGV line between London and Paris. The first stop is Fromelles, the site of the discovery of 6 mass graves holding the remains of some 250 Australian and British soldiers who fell during the terrible battle of 19 July 1916 (Hitler fought at Fromelles as a corporal of the Bavarian regiment).
