Pointers from Paradise Tips from the CP Design team by scrappinJen
Patterned Paper is Your Friend I don't know about you, but when I get ready to scrap, the first thing I grab is patterened paper (pp). Forget the plain old cardstock for me, it's all about the the pretty papers. Now I know for many scrappers, pp can be a bit scary. But, for me when I look at a brand new pile of pp all I see is an opportunity to get busy with my pink Cutterbee scissors. Now take this darling collection Lucky Me from My Minds Eye. Eeeks! What does one do with all those "busy" patterns? You cut 'em up and you let your photos remain center stage.
For my layout I simply handcut that beautiful branch with the hanging lanterns. I have one hint for fussy cutting. Are you listening? Lean in. I've even taught my 7 yo crafty daughter this little tip TURN THE PAPER, NOT THE SCISSORS! Seriously, that's all you need to do. For the base of my layout I used the first pp with all the lanterns. And sewed on a smaller piece of the "b" side of another MME paper. I backed the handcut piece of branch/lanterns with popdots and just started building and adding from there. It worked out kinda cute, huh
For this next layout I used this pretty bloom paper from Bo Bunny's Persuasion line. Holy busy paper, huh?!? Cut it up! When cutting up flowers or other shapes like this when they are overlapping, look for complete blooms or at least find partials that can be tucked under items on your page, so no one will ever know they were incomplete. Kwim?
Alrighty that's all I have for you today. Hope I've inspired you just a little bit to get out there and play with your patterned paper and your teeny tiny little scissors.
