Standout Spanish wrist-clocks
Marrying yourself to an unglamorous career can leave you in the dumps, especially if that career is figuring out where to install other peoples' toilets. Actually flushing a life in loos to focus on watches, the team behind 666 Barcelona.
From two Spanish designers internationally recognized for their lavoratory layouts, 666's debut collection boasts a slew of retro-futuristic timepieces meant to exhibit "the mark of an iconic and unconventional man", a description the Beast has taken on to make himself more "2010". Square models're prominent, including the James, whose brushed metal "vault" case is only broken by a small off-center digital display; the "ultra-oversize" LED Space Worker, with a sizable digital readout set in a metal case w/ its top/bottom edges tilted in & out respectively; and the black steel Megabyte, with two rotating white dots standing in for the hour/minute hands in what's commonly referred to as a "mystery dial", also a poorly-received move pulled by alcoholic magicians. More complex standouts are highlighted by the Colour, a standard chrome-case-and-black-face job with three analog dials, each for a different time zone; the Adventure, boasting concentric rows of numerals (hours on the interior, minutes on the outer edge); and the pearlescent-faced, segmented-leather-strapped Bad, which forgoes numerals for a display of intersecting lines vaguely resembling a scope's crosshairs, because yes, time is out to get you, and now it has a gun.
To finish pushing the boundaries, there's a circular chrome piece with a digital minute/hour readout and giant analog second hand that's modeled after the gauge from an antique vacuum, reminding you that while some careers leave you bummed out, others just flat out suck.
