The List
Book It: Overdue Industries
OI's slapping the covers of classic books onto 60lb acid-free paper notebooks, interspersing 15-20 pages of the actual volume (hopefully pictures!), and even throwing a cheeky library check-out card in the back. Current stock includes Sesame Street, Star Wars, and Nancy Drew, they can custom-rig anything you find on their 700-tome-strong Flickr page, and they'll also transform any book you've got sitting around that you're "a-ok with getting sliced and diced" -- just be sure not to do anything rash, they already have their own Nancy Drew stuff up for sale.
The shop's also stocking formerly-bookish magnets, keychains, and jewelry

Get Back: Burger Bar @ Gallo's
8101 Roosevelt Blvd; Philadelphia; 215.333.0484
Gallo's went and opened up a burger bar behind its seafood joint, serving up gut-bombs like the smoked bacon/BBQ "Smokehouse", the "Burger Bar Special", with Gruyere and baby bella mushrooms, and the double-beef, double-cheese, heap of bacon, fried egg "5-Napkin" -- and with good brews (Yards, Victory, Magic Hat) at affordable prices (~$4), you can earn your own name, "3-Sheets".
The Northeast now has a place to get food that isn't your Bubby's house

Give Me Liberty: The Sons of Liberty
Available at Locust Moon Comics: 4040 Locust St; Philadelphia; 215.921.8530
TSOL's a just-released graphic novel, drawn in part by a Philly artist, set in pre-Revolutionary America and featuring two superpower-wielding runaway slaves who practice the African martial arts of Dambe and're occasionally mentored by Ben Franklin -- apparently, despite having superhuman fighting skills, they still need some old white guy to give them their Whig break.
The book drops today and you can meet the artist tonight at 7:30

Dark & Milky: Philadelphia Chocolates
Available at Verde: 108 S 13th St; Philadelphia; 215.546.8700
Chef Marcie Blaine Turney's taking gourmet chocolates and giving them a 215 spin, adding markings giving nods to the Liberty Bell, the Love statue, and pretzels -- all much better than the Dolly Madison/Duracell tribute to Philly, the battery-filled Sno Ball.
If you're heading to this candy shop, you'll want to bring more than 50 cents
