FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Mike Anderson, US Youth Soccer, manderson@usyouthsoccer.org Games continue at 2010 US Youth Soccer ODP Boys Thanksgiving Interregional Day 3 of 4 complete FRISCO, Texas (Nov. 28, 2010) - US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (US Youth Soccer ODP) Boys Thanksgiving Interregional continues with the 1996 and 1997 age groups competing at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla. All scores and standings will be available at http://tournaments.usyouthsoccer.org/events/2010-US-Youth-Soccer-ODP-Thanksgiving-Interregional/. Neither team could find the net in the first half between 1996 Region IV and Region I but the game opened up in the second half as Region IV came out with a 3-1 victory. A defensive error started the scoring in the 43rd when a misplayed clearance by the Region I keeper hit Felipe Liborio of Region IV in the chest and ricocheted into the net for the Region IV lead. Region I drew level in the 53rd when a corner kick bounced out to the top of the box and Herber Mejia-Flores blasted it into the back of the net to make it 1-1. Region IV immediately answered a minute later as a Carter Perry cross found the feet of Edgar Duran and he finished to regain the lead. In the 60th Region IV added an insurance goal as Hugo Gutierrez dribbled down the right side and cut a pass back to the penalty spot and Tyson Fox ran on to finish and cap the game at 3-1 for Region IV. Region III defeated Region II 2-1 in the other 1996 game to move each team in the group to a 1-1 record. Just seconds before halftime, Ricardo Calderon battled through a scramble in the box to poke the ball into the net and give Region III the lead at the break. Andrew Costa doubled the lead in the 54th for Region III before Abdikadir Anyah pounced on a misplayed ball by the Region III keeper to get within one, but Region III would hold on to win 2-1. In the 1997 age group, Region IV Black defeated Region I Blue 2-0. Dylan Smith grabbed the opening goal in the 13th with a laser from 20 yards for Region IV before Sebastian Saucedo took a pass from Christian Segovia and danced around a couple defenders before adding a second. The U.S. National Team Red defeated 1997 Region III Green 3-1. Amadu Kunateh was involved in each goal for the National Team and he started by finding Benny Swanson in the 17th to give the U.S. the lead. Two minutes later Kunateh scored himself from a feed from Shannon Seymour and in the 30th Kunateh made it a three goal lead with a blast from 15 yards. Region III got on the board in the 57th when Toby Howell used some nice touches to elude defenders before burying a shot to end the game at 3-1. The 1997 Region II Red team has displayed some nice soccer this weekend and they were able to draw 0-0 with the U.S. National Team Navy to move to 1-1-1. 1997 Region IV White pulled out a 3-1 victory over Region II White thanks to a Jorge Ruiz double. Gregory Lang put Region IV up 1-0 in the 10th minute, but Jesus Perez evened the game just after halftime for Region II. Ruiz regained the lead for Region IV in the 45th before adding the final goal in the 61st after a great individual effort to get by several Region II defenders.
