Best of the Year

Tagg
The first boutique of its kind in Hell's Kitchen, Tagg's
dark black ceiling and glossed concrete floors play backdrop
to their wide range of winter gear, from Spiewak outerwear,
to Gant Rugger sweaters, to Amsterdam-tested duds from
Scotch & Soda; they're also the only spot in NYC sourcing
threads from the Argentinian concern Garcon Garcia, also how
Jeff makes ends meet in the CFL.

Electrolites
From a couple of Brown alums who wanted to bring light-up
kicks into the adult world, Electro's handmade, ltd ed haute
street sneaks frequently feature collabs with up-and-coming
local artists to "embody the energy, creativity, and drive"
of NYC, and're inspired by people "on the grind every day",
which couldn't work with a shirt, as Eric Nies never wears one.

Whillas & Gunn
A child of the seriously rugged Aussie brand Kakadu, Gunn
takes its roots in a more urbane direction, applying the
aesthetic vibe & dedication to detail to "contemporary
styling and a polished fit", but not a Polish fit, since
that look's a total joke.

Icebreaker
The first NYC store for the NZ-based Merino wool sportswear
purveyor's like a Modells-cum-art-gallery (giant
question-mark-shaped rug statue: check), filled with fresh
bike & run lines, underwear, hats, and stylish urban gear
from hoodies to peacoats, all traceable down to the farm
where the wool came from thanks to a tag sporting a
"baacode", not to be confused with a bahcode, which only
tells people where you're watching the Pats.

D.S. Dundee
In addition to Scot-tastic tartan wool trousers and cords,
Herringbone trenches, and belted shooting jackets, DS's
rocking knitwear, from collegiate cardigans with elbow
patches and contrasting placket/pocket trim, to a drab
oriental rug-ish sweater called the Stonybrook, which
ironically is all the more necessary when it isn't SUNY out.
