The Playbook

Eat Right: Freshii
1414 S Penn Square; Philadelphia; 215.977.7123
Suspiciously helping with that weight-loss resolution, Freshii's cracked the doors on its stark white/ dark wood resto, slinging custom bowls, salads, and wraps ordered via in-store checklist, their website, or your iPhone, along with set munchables like a grilled steak burrito with cheddar & Jack or a black beans/ sweet corn/ Cajun chicken "Fiesta Salad", not to be confused with "Fiesta Fiesta Salad", which R. Kelly made, and therefore probably isn't that kind of salad at all.
They're totally all up on earth-friendly practices, which you can read about on their manifesto at freshii.com

Drink Up: Crocodile Lounge Pickleback Menu
110 Chestnut St; Old City; 267.687.1450
Croc's created custom takes on the notorious pickleback (whiskey shot followed by one of pickle juice), including the Timmaayy (whiskey, chilled banana pepper pickle juice) and the Dirty Sanchez (Espolon tequila w/ jalapeno pepper pickle juice). Meanwhile, upstairs bottle service lounge's hosting fifths of Jameson paired with a jar of brine from NYC's McSorley's, so don't expect to see Donald Brashear anywhere near this place.
They're the masters of the cheap drink, so peruse the menu here then hit 'em up for $5 combos

Sit Down: What's Crappenin'?
From a dude who spends his non-bathroom time screenprinting tees, WC's a new photo blog taken from the perspective of a king perched on his throne and displaying everything he sees, from a "No White Girls" sign, to a penned rendition of Calvin going #1 on the Monopoly dude's head, to a well-drawn sketch of a fella birthing a 3rd fist from his no-no parts to punch a guy out, clearly drawn by a brokenhearted soul who came to poop and only arted.
This, plus more art from the mind that's found in the head, at whatscrappenin.tumbler.com

Shuck Around: Oysters 101
Every Sat in January, 1:30p to 2:30p, at The Oyster House: 1516 Sansom St; Philadelphia; 215.567.7683
The Oyster House is learnin' you with a quick-but-thorough bivalve course (complete with plenty of samplings, and a free t-shirt!) throwing down knowledge on proper shucking, oyster anatomy, wine/beer pairings, classic sauces & garnishes, and the differences between species from the West and East Coast, which is most prominently used in the dish Oysters Roc-a-Fella.

Time To Save: Meister Watches @ JackThreads
Our cos-bro-nauts at JT're slinging two of the urban timewear concern's most popular handmade models: the stainless steel, composite-strapped Prodigy, and the rubber-banded, square-faced Chief, hopefully not named after Robert Parish, because if he could tell time he would have retired 5 years earlier.
Kick off the new year with loads of discounted gear from JackThreads.com
