Recently Amdocs's Donna Rowlands, director of Market Strategy and Executive Audiences, sat down with David Meerman Scott, a marketing strategist on social network strategies and author of the widely-translated book "The New Rules of Marketing and PR," to discuss how social media strategies can be implemented in communications services. Amdocs works with service provider professionals to find the information they need to make informed telecommunications decisions for their organizations.



Communications and video entertainment are scale businesses, requiring a certain amount of size to operate profitably, as is the case in many other businesses. Frontier Communications, which recently acquired assets from Verizon, is the latest example. Frontier Communications paid $8.6 billion for Verizon's cable television, broadband Internet and landline phone business in 14 states, but has discovered the impact subscriber scale can have on a video entertainment business.



Mobile TeleSystems OJSC, a Russian telecommunications company and the CIS, announced the appointment of Andrei Dubovskov as its new president and CEO. In a press release, the company said that the appointment was made by the company's board of directors in accordance to the company's charter.



OpenCape Corporation, a non-profit corporation that provides a regional communications network on Cape Cod and the Islands, has contracted CapeNet to design, build and operated the OpenCape network.



DrayTek Corp., a provider of advanced networking solutions, has announced that its Vigor2130 series Gigabit routers have received commendable acknowledgements from two well known telecommunications media groups. The Taiwan based company has been recognized by PC PROFESSIONALE in Italy and Telekom Idag in Sweden. Additionally, CHIP magazine in Hungary and Poland has also reviewed the Vigor2130Vn router, and has recommended it to readers for high-speed Internet connectivity.



Although most businesses have some kind of a web presence, companies that are moving from the present to the future are increasingly looking toward blogs to establish their online presence and leverage the many opportunities that present themselves.



Santa Monica, California based CRM solution provider Nimble launched the beta version of Nimble Contact at the DEMO Spring 2011 conference. According to its maker, the long awaited solution integrates CRM as well as social networking features in a single web-based platform. By integrating LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Google, email contacts and conversations into one seamless, intuitive environment, Nimble Contact comes with the promise of helping small businesses in today's socially connected world attract and retain the right customers. According to executive producer of DEMO Matt Marshall, through this launch, Nimble demonstrated a perfect amalgamation of cloud, collaboration, social and CRM technologies into one comprehensive package.



In an effort to extend its support to Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB), Atlanta based Truck Roll Company Endeavor recently donated 2,000 pounds of food to ACFB.
