Toyota Takes Early Orders for Prius Plug-In


Today, the Toyota motor company began taking orders for its newest Prius model, a plug-in gas-electric hybrid car which boasts an immense gas mileage and low electrical requirements. This new “green” vehicle is now the latest craze in the Japanese auto market and will be available in globally in 2012.


On top of that, the vehicle will also be in an affordable price range for the average consumer, starting at $41,000 in Japan, not counting the “green subsidies” which further reduce the price considerably.


The low price is due to a high expectation in production, lowering the cost to the company in selling its cars. Toyota expects to sell 35-40 thousand Prius models in one year, while its expectations globally sit at 60 thousand. The auto company will start releasing vehicles in Japan as early as January 2012. The Prius plug-in’s price will start at $32,000 for US customers and 37,000 Euros for Europeans.
