9 Impressive Phones from CES

Of all of these phones, the only one I got to play with
was the Sony Xperia Ion. Shedding the dead weight that
has been Ericcson, Sony seems to be breathing new life
into its handset series. We could certainly use some more
cool hands sets in the U.S. to give Apple and Samsung a
run for their money. PCMag's Jamie Lendino has the rest.

The Coolest Thing I Saw at CES 2012: Life Technologies
Ion Proton Genetic Sequencer

There's really only one question people ask about CES:
What is the coolest thing you saw? Everyone asks--vendors,
the press, and the taxi cab drivers that take you back to
your hotel in the middle of the night. And there is a lot
of pressure to find the right answer. As of Wednesday
night, I had to say it was the 85-inch Sharp 8K HDTV, which
has four times as many pixels as your standard 1080p set.
But now I have a better answer. It's the Life Technologies
Ion Proton Genetic Sequencer

Ford CTO, Paul Mascarenas at CES 2012: The PCMag
Interview

Audi, Kia, Mercedes Benz, and a host of other car companies
are at CES 2012 this year, each one doing its best to prove
its vehicles are the most high-tech. But Ford seems to have
the inside track. Its Ford Sync platform has become the
benchmark with which all other in-car systems are compared.
Its new Fusion is the first car to be available in gasoline,
hybrid, and fully electronic models. And just last week, the
company announced that it was opening up a R&D Lab in Silicon
Valley in order to stay closer to the trends--and presumably
the talent--that will be shaping the future of the American
automobile. I got the chance to sit down with Ford's Chief
Technology Officer, Paul Mascarenas, at the company's CES
2012 booth.

Sony Says No New PlayStation in 2012

The PlayStation 3 has been tweaked over the years, but Sony
is letting users know now that there will be no major upgrade
this year. I still wouldn't rule out a teaser demo at E3, but
there will be no product launches. Hopefully, Sony will spend
the time upgrading its network
