March 26, 2012 Samsung and SES Provide Africa with First Free-to-Air Satellite TV Service By Nick Ruble, TMCnet Contributing Writer Samsung ( News - Alert) Africa Forum (Cape Town, South Africa) – SES announced plans of collaborating with Samsung to provide Africa with a free satellite service via LED televisions with integrated free-to-air satellite receivers. Samsung’s LED Free Satellite will be widely distributed across Africa, starting August 2012 in Nigeria, Ghana, Cote D’Ivoire, Senegal, Democratic Republic of Congo and Cameroon. SES (News - Alert) is a major provider of free-to-air digital programming, delivering over 60 channels in 40 countries across Africa. Along with Samsung they will launch a joint marketing campaign in the latter half of 2012, as well as arrange training sessions for potential partners to ensure proper installation of the dish.
