TTEthernet in Motion! In the past, many special bus systems have been developed for use in automobiles, trains, planes and in space travel that fulfill requirements in these areas of application extremely well. However, these bus systems are typically not very well suited for tasks other than those for which they were originally designed. Because of this, in many applications more than one bus system is used in parallel. This heterogeneity should be curtailed. A 40-year-old network - Ethernet - is coming to the rescue.
When the need for bandwidth is very high, Ethernet solutions that can support 100 MBit/s and potentially more are an obvious choice. Because of the desire for a standardized communication protocol with high potential for reuse, Ethernet will see increasing use in applications with high availability and system safety requirements. This will make additional flexibility, cost-efficiency, and seamless combination with other bus systems possible.
TTEthernet's communication classes fulfill the requirements for such a network very well. In this way TTEthernet makes possible the use of Ethernet in all areas of application. From classic web services to time- and safety-critical control systems, the network makes all necessary services available. Because it is based on standard Ethernet, existing Ethernet networks can easily be migrated to a TTEthernet network. Networks can be extended in small steps with TTEthernetcapable switches and end systems in order to gradually make time- and safety-critical communication possible. No changes to existing applications are necessary.
