Tuesday Afternoon Silver and Gold Wrap Up for 4/17/12....Peter R....Southern Trust Metals, Inc.

Good afternoon Andrew,

U.S. stocks surged today on the back solid gains in Europe....Strong German investor sentiment coupled with a well received Spanish bond auction helped set the pace for a strong European trading day....Euro-zone stocks ended the day with gains of 1.8% to 2.6%....The sentiment carried forward to New York trading where the Dow with help from IBM and Coca Cola rose 200 points....Wow!.....The gains came despite ininspiring U.S. economic data.....Building Permits impressed with a reading of 747,000 planned units, while Housing Starts disappointed the Street at 654,000 units .......Meanwhile Industrial Production came in flat at 0% change.....Regardless; stocks rallied.....

In metals trading we got mixed results.....Gold closed essentially flat at $1651.00......Silver added 26 cents to $31.74.....Palladium and Platinum both closed $11.00 higher at $664.00 and $1590.00 respectively

In other markets; the Euro despite today's good news continues to trade flat at $1.3133 off 2/100ths of U.S. cent.....Crude Oil is up $1.55 to $104.48 per barrel....

In other news on importance the Bank of Canada decided to hold it's key interest rate unchanged.... That's it.....Have a good afternoon....
