This week's FierceSmartGrid is brought to you by IBM. |
Over the summer of 2011 Southern Company engaged in a "Proof of Concept" to integrate their robust Distribution GIS to Maximo Spatial Asset Management. The combined system would encompass the functionality of 50+ disparate systems, reducing their system portfolio, and also provide previously unavailable business value through the consolidation, integration, and analysis of the combined systems. The project was guided by the "One Version of the Truth" principle, to evaluate methods to create shared data and functions that both GIS and EAM systems would use with one point of data entry. The project showed how the two systems can enhance one another and give a more complete picture of the asset's lifecycle than each system separately. In addition, Terry Saunders, IBM, will discuss global trends in spatial asset management. All the speakers will be available for a live question and answer session as well. Please join us on December 4th and learn more. | |
