While this may be a convenient way to get their thoughts out in timely manner, there has been a growing concern about the impact shorthand text has on one's grammar. However, recent research from Kaplan International Colleges reveals this concern is unwarranted. The English courses for teenagers provider surveyed 178 English learners from 44 countries, and found that 63 percent of them don't believe that “text speak” has negatively affected their grammar or spelling skills, despite the fact that five percent reported using it while writing essays and three percent use it during exams.
