New Video: "How to Enter the Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards"

We've just published a new video entitled "How to Enter the Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards.  Watch it now.

APSA VideoThe Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards are the first new Stevie Awards program to be launched in seven years.  This business awards program is open to all organizations operating in the 22 nations of the Asia-Pacific region.  There are 18 categories to choose from, and entries may be submitted, and will be judged, in Chinese, English, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Malay and Thai languages.

The early-bird deadline, with discounted entry fees, for the 2014 competition is November 6.  The final deadline is December 4, and late entries will be accepted through January 21 with payment of a late fee.  Winners will be announced in mid-February, and celebrated at an awards event in the region in early April.

The new video provides a whirlwind tour of the awards' website and the category-selection and entry-submission processes.  The entry process for the Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards is a bit different from that of other Stevie Awards programs, as the website is built on an entirely new platform.  So even if you're a long-time entrant in Stevie Awards programs, we recommend that you watch this video.

Versions of the video in a number of other languages will be available soon.

The Final Judges of the 10th Stevie Awards for Women in Business

The awards dinner of the 2013 (10th annual) Stevie Awards for Women in Business, in New York on Friday, November 8, is sold out. Winners of the Grand, Gold, Silver, and Bronze Stevie Awards will be announced that night in the world's top honors for women executives, entrepreneurs, employees, and the organizations they run.

The Stevie Award placements were determined from among the finalists by 90 members of five final judging committees during online judging from October 14-23.  Their average scores determined the Stevie-winner placements.  (Finalists were determined by the average scores of 150 preliminary judges over six weeks starting in early September.)

We can't thank these great professionals enough for their help in determining this year's women in business awards winners.  Here are the members of the five final judging committees.

(One quick aside first.  If you'd like to apply to participate in the judging process for the 2014 Stevie Awards for Women in Business, apply here.)

How to Craft Your 2014 Marketing Plan

Ruwena Healy, CEO of Marketing 24/7, Inc., in Trussville, Alabama, USA chaired the final judging committee for the Communications and Marketing Awards categories in the 2013 Stevie Awards for Women in Business, the world's top honors for women executive, entrepreneurs, and the organizations they run. Her company won the Gold Stevie for Low Budget Communications Campaign of the Year in the 2012 Stevies for women. Here she applies her own award-winning marketing expertise to provide some tips for marketers on planning for 2014.

Like many companies, you are probably in the midst of preparing your strategic plans for 2014. Successful business leaders understand that in order to anticipate a profitable upcoming year, you have to plan.

Ruwena HealyIf you are struggling with the planning process for your marketing and social media, or need a few ideas about how to implement a plan going forward, here are a few important tips to keep in mind:

1. Figure out where you stand.

It may seem obvious, but in order for you to move forward, you have to figure out where you are right now. This means taking a serious look at the inner workings of your marketing and social media plan. Conducting an internal and external audit of where your business really is—and not where you think it is—will give you a true picture of where you stand. Now would also be a good time to examine the strengths and weaknesses of your business. What are you doing right and what have you done that hasn’t worked?

2. What are you trying to accomplish?

Too often, businesses think that if they advertise everywhere and post everything on social media, they will magically receive countless leads, gain more loyal customers, and increase their bottom line. In order to craft the right message to get concerted results, you must identify what outcome you are looking for and then proceed to target the right market with the right message through the right medium.
