Twitter is helping automakers bring in millions, report says
Twitter -- through ads, positive brand mentions, TV ad amplifications and automaker tweets -- helped drive $716 million in sales for about 20 midsize and luxury compact cars, according to a study by MarketShare, which is a Twitter partner. Luxury brands performed particularly well, earning $17.80 in revenue for each $1 spent. There are 65,000 tweets each day "about purchasing or researching a new car," said Twitter's Rob Pietsch.
