The struggling Mediterranean nation and its international creditors are set Monday to resume talks on Greece's progress in implementing reforms agreed as part of its most recent bailout deal, and are likely to conclude a key review process necessary for the country to receive its next tranche of funding. The talks come even as IMF chief Christine Lagarde warned that the lender was “a good distance away,” from agreeing to terms for the bailout.

Alaska Air is expected to announce Monday that it has beaten rival JetBlue Airways in a bidding war for carrier Virgin America. Alaska Air is expected to pay around $2.5 billion in cash, a figure around $1 billion above Virgin America's market capitalization when the deal was reportedly agreed on Friday night. The tie-up of the two carriers would create the fifth largest airline in the U.S. by traffic.

Gov. Jerry Brown is expected this evening to sign the state's proposed $15 minimum wage into law, which will give California the highest such wage in the country. The deal, agreed last week, will see the state's minimum wage rise gradually to the $15 mark over the next five years. California will not be alone in the $15 club for long — New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is expected to approve a law this week that will put his state's minimum wage at the same level.

HERE'S WHAT YOU MISSED LAST NIGHT.

The deportations were greeted with protests from rights activists.

The reclusive Stalinist state lashed out at the latest round of sanctions imposed on it by the U.N. Security Council, branding them “anachronistic and suicidal,” adding that the U.S. and “hostile forces” were trying to stifle the Kim Jong Un regime. The U.N. imposed fresh sanctions on North Korea, following a nuclear test in January and a rocket launch in February.

Oil prices slipped in early trading Monday, after the chances of Middle Eastern producers agreeing to curb overproduction were seen to slip before the weekend. Saudi Arabia warned on Friday that it would only agree to participate in a production freeze if its rival Iran also took part, something Tehran has refused to do. International Brent futures were down 45 cents at $38.22 a barrel in early trading.

AND THEN THERE'S THIS...

Movie critics can breathe a sigh of relief: many were questioning the continued relevance of professional reviewers, after the new “Batman v Superman” movie broke box-office records on its opening weekend, despite a critical mauling. However, the movie pulled in $52.4 million over the past weekend, a 68 percent drop from its opening — which amounts to one of the largest second-weekend drop-offs for a superhero movie in history.

The California Highway Patrol was involved in an unusual pursuit on Sunday, when motorcycle officers had to chase down a chihuahua who was attempting to cross San Francisco's Bay Bridge. Traffic was stopped for around 10 minutes, while officers attempted to apprehend the animal, who was eventually collared and brought to safety. You can watch a video of the encounter here.
