According to CrashStats, about 18 percent of injury crashes, and 16 percent of all police reported crashes were caused largely because we weren't actually watching the road. And, you know that most folks don't actually admit they were mucking with their cell phone when they ended up in an accident. Around 33K people die every year in vehicle related accidents in the U.S.; this compares unfavorably to gun deaths, which seem to get all of the focus, running a third of that number. Driverless cars, those that leave the driver out of the loop, are estimated to be able to drop the number of traffic accidents by 90 percent, which would save nearly 30K lives per year.
There seems to be an ongoing battle between Google and Uber when it comes to providing the best car services. When Uber deployed self-driving cars in Pittsburgh this month, it became apparent that they had bested Google in the race to create the first autonomous vehicle. Now, the saga continues as Google moves into Uber's territory by offering a competitive ride-sharing service to San Francisco commuters.

Currently people are replacing their laptop computers about once every five years, and for those reaching that five-year due date, the next couple of months will be a festival of ever thinner designs and richer capabilities. The kinds of things you'll be seeing are more OLED displays, more 4K resolutions, even thinner designs and some really creative configurations. Not to mention performance has increased dramatically over the last five years, giving you anywhere from 2x to 8x the speeds you are used to, depending on what it is you do.
Wearable cameras are becoming increasingly popular thanks to thrill-seekers. After all, it's much easier to record yourself skydiving or mountain climbing if you don't have to worry about holding, and possibly dropping, the camera. The wearable camera market includes cameras used for sports and adventure activities, public safety and consumer applications. They're essential for any moment where being hands-free is key, whether it be jumping out of a plane or for security reasons. According to a new report from Tractica, sports and adventure cameras, also known as action cameras, remain the biggest driver for wearable camera adoption.
The District of Columbia - the Nation's Capital - lost 911 services for more than 90 minutes between late Saturday evening, Aug. 27 and Sunday morning, Aug. 28. It is the second 911 outage in the region in the past two months and augers a larger problem. Citizens assume 911 will always be available in an emergency, but governments and service providers are increasingly failing to deliver this mission critical service we all take for granted.
When it comes to cutting-edge technology, this summer's Olympic Games didn't fail to impress. The weird - and really wonderful - tech advancements and gadgets make you realize how many ways technology has changed sports over the years. As athletes pushed the boundaries of what's possible, viewers were able to see the action closer than ever before.
As marketers, you know that the easiest customers to market to are happy ones. One of the key ways to ensure that your company is keeping customers happy is to make sure that they are receiving the best possible customer service. Consumer happiness is the one sure-fire way to ensure that you attract and retain customers. That's why App Retail Media, a mobile advertising technology provider, has decided to use CAKE's software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution to track and analyze more than 2 billion customer actions in real time.
