Man…
There's few things more annoying than not being able to smoothly go from one guitar
part to another.
I was at a party the other day and there was a guitarist playing "The Joker" by Steve
Miller. Everyone was singing along happily and then it happened.
He missed the chorus.
His chord switch was sloppy. And he delayed the chorus by 1 second. Of course,
it threw everybody off because they were ready to belt out the lyrics "I'm a joker…
I'm a toker…"
I felt bad for the guy. He blew the vibe.
Do you ever struggle with switching chords quickly enough? Or changing guitar
parts smoothly without missing a beat?
Some people might not think that a split second makes a difference.
The difference between Gold and Silver at the Olympics this summer at the 100
meter race was 0.09 seconds.
ZERO.09 FREAKING SECONDS!
I probably can't get out of my chair that fast.
You know what difference in terms of money… fame and glory between Gold And
Silver?
It's millions of dollars. It's the difference between being The Legend and being the
guy who almost made it.
Reminds of me Talladega Nights with Will Ferrell when his Dad would say "If you're
not first, you're last."
Missing a chorus or a song change by a fraction of a second is almost the same thing.
People are tapping their feets on that beat. If you MISS that beat, you've just blown
their vibes. When you nail it, everybody keeps singing the vibe is awesome.
If you want to never hear awkard silence when you blow the vibe and get rid of those
"gaps" in your playing. I suggest you get the "Ultimate Guitar Song Collection"
because you'll get more than a song collection, you'll learn how to transition from
chord to chord like a rock star.
There's not a party… a bonfire… or a date… you won't be able to impress and blow
away with these 225 legendary tracks.
Let's get that Gold
Claude "Trainer Of Champions" Johnson
P.S. I just timed myself getting out of my chair and it took me 0.13 seconds. I need to
go to the gym yesterday.
