While WebRTC is without question a transformative technology, IBM's Watson is no slouch. Coupling cognitive computing with WebRTC welcomes a world of opportunity, revolutionizing real time to the likes we have yet to see. Earlier this month, the Mirai and Bashlight botnet attacks flooded Dyn, one of the largest domain name service providers in the world, causing Internet outages affecting Twitter, Box, GitHub and more. The attacks happened so fast it was initially hard to keep up with the impact. In the U.S., given the media attention being paid to the upcoming Presidential election, the reporting around this largest Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack was minimal - until Twitter was down. Separating fact from fiction is something we all do on a regular basis. Whether it is filtering out the talking heads of today's media or researching your next waiver wire pick up in fantasy sports, this is more common an occurrence than most realize. The cloud is no different, a much hyped technology that tends to spur critics at every turn, is transforming technology across the spectrum. If I were to tweet the hashtag #Hello, there is a rather high likelihood that it would be construed as in reference to Adelle's viral hit, not Firefox's "failed" foray in WebRTC. It has been some time since Firefox announced it would end support for its browser-based communications tool, allowing those of us in the media some time to digest this decision.
