In a large pot; heat oil over medium heat. Cook onion, garlic and red peppers, stirring often, for 10 minutes. Add tomatoes, basil, bay leaf, salt and hot pepper flakes. Cover and cook over medium-low heat, stirring often, for about 20 minutes or until tomatoes are softened. Discard bay leaf. Add sugar to taste. Meanwhile, in a large pot of boiling water; cook spaghetti for 8 to 10 minutes or until tender. Drain well and toss with sauce. Serves 4 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
