We may be “all in this together,” but that may be like saying a crate full of puppies or kittens is “all together” – there’s still a lot of tussling and scrapping going on. In the last couple of months, we appear to be even more divided than we were as we struggle to plot a course through the complexities of the pandemic. Even if you’re successful in avoiding the news media, you still need to manage what can be widely differing emotions in your neighbors, friends and family. What one family considers essential, another asserts as “high risk behavior.” What some consider crucial, others call foolhardy.
Some folks have even sworn off social media they’re so tired of the rancor associated with who, when, where and how to wear a mask, socialize with others, and participate in certain activities. The same sort of intensity is associated with attending a religious service in person, sending your child to camp, and the possibility of in-person school in the fall. There’s no shortage of opinion or emotion about the “right” thing to do.
What's a dad or mom to do in times like this?
