Raimondo on the Announced Candidacy of Doreen Bogdan-Martin for ITU Secretary-General WASHINGTON -- Following the announcement of ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau Director Doreen Bogdan-Martin's candidacy for ITU Secretary-General, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo released the following statement: "Today the United States Government declares its support for Director Bogdan-Martin's candidacy to be the first woman ever to lead the International Telecommunication Union. Bogdan-Martin brings to her candidacy decades of experience in public service and a proven record of accomplishment leading the ITU's Telecommunication Development Bureau. Bogdan-Martin began her career at the Department of Commerce's National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and has dedicated her career to championing gender equality and the expansion of digital access and adoption across the developing world.
