We know the holidays can be hard for LGBTQ young people whose family and friends don't accept them for who they are. That's why the Trevor community has been sharing words of love and encouragement:
"I wish you strength and joy, peace and comfort. The world needs you here. The world needs your story."
"Your gender identity, who you love, and who you ARE is worthy and beautiful. Do not let anyone devalue you and how wonderful and amazing you are."
"I know the world might seem like it's falling all around you, but it's okay. You are loved. You aren't alone."
We know that when an LGBTQ young person has at least one accepting adult in their life, they are 40% less likely to attempt suicide. That means loving messages like those I've shared here can be life-saving.
The Trevor Project is the world's largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning) young people.
