| Pelosi vows US support for Ukraine until 'this fight is over': As Russian shelling in Ukraine resumed over the weekend, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that the U.S. is with Ukraine until "this fight is over." Pelosi, who traveled with a congressional delegation on an unannounced trip, is the highest-level U.S. official to visit Ukraine since Russia invaded on Feb. 24. Pelosi's visit to Kyiv was welcomed among Ukrainian leaders. The trip comes just days after President Joe Biden announced his request for Congress to approve $33 billion in supplemental aid to Ukraine. Pelosi reiterated America's support and assured Zelenskyy that additional help "is on the way." Meanwhile, with Russia and Ukraine being mass producers of wheat and grain, Samantha Power, administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development, said the costs of the war include global food and fertilizer shortages. Here's how the war is impacting prices for consumers and farmers around the world. | Rapid growth of New Mexico wildfire prompts new evacuation orders: New mandatory evacuation orders have been issued in parts of New Mexico due to the rapid growth of a massive wildfire east of Santa Fe. Since merging into one blaze a week ago, the Calf Canyon and Hermit's Peak fires have burned 97,064 acres as of Saturday morning -- a growth of over 30,000 acres in 24 hours, according to updates from state fire officials. The blaze, which is primarily impacting San Miguel and Mora counties, is 32% contained with over 1,000 firefighters responding. A main cause for the spread is relentless drought, which continues to provide ample dry fuels for fires to spread. | Country music stars, daughters Ashley and Wynonna mourn death of legend Naomi Judd: Country music stars mourned the death of Naomi Judd, one half of the Grammy-winning duo The Judds who died Saturday at the age of 76. Her daughters, actress Ashley Judd and country singer Wynonna Judd -- the other half of the Judds -- announced her passing in a heartbreaking post on social media. The Judds had hits throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including "Love Can Build a Bridge" and "Mama He's Crazy." The mother-daughter duo, who recently announced a new tour, were celebrated at the Country Music Hall of Fame Sunday. "My heart's broken and I feel so blessed, and it's a very strange dynamic to be this broken and this blessed," Wynonna said. "My Mama loved you so much and she appreciated your love for her. And I'm sorry that she couldn't hang on until today," Ashley said. "Your esteem for her and your regard for her really penetrated her heart, and it was your affection for her that did keep her going in these past years." | New photos of Princess Charlotte released for 7th birthday: It's Princess Charlotte's seventh birthday today and to mark the occasion, Prince William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared new photographs of her. The photos, which were released by Kensington Palace on Sunday, show Charlotte smiling at the camera and posing with her family's pet dog. In keeping with the Cambridge birthday tradition, the photos were taken by Duchess Kate over the weekend in Norfolk, where the Cambridges have a country home. Charlotte is currently fourth in line to the British throne behind her grandfather, Prince Charles, father and older brother, Prince George. | |
