Lewis, here's the truth: I spent days before the launch of our poll worker recruitment campaign worrying about its success. I know it's a big deal to ask our supporters to spend their Election Day volunteering.
But I was blown away by how many of you stepped up! We've already recruited over 2,200 poll workers. I've never felt more confident about the power of this team.
We're just starting this program though -- and we haven't raised all the funds it will take to run it along with all of AOTL's other efforts. For the poll recruitment program alone, there are trainings we still need to develop and materials to provide volunteers.
Will you chip in whatever you can to make sure we don't run out of the resources required to run our poll worker recruitment campaign and any of our other democracy-saving programs?
Here's the chart I wanted to show you. I think it makes two things pretty clear:
- Folks across the country understand how grave the threats to our democracy are. They feel what A.G. Holder is talking about when he says "Democracy is on the ballot this November."
- Folks are acutely aware of the threats to our democracy in some of the places where Republicans have been the most ruthless in attacking it. In many ways, North Carolina has been ground zero for plots to dismantle democracy, and here saw a surge of 83 poll worker signups.
The supporters signing up to volunteer to be poll workers are heroes for our democracy, but so are the supporters funding democracy-saving work.
It's not too late to make a difference ahead of this election, but it will be before we know it. Can you pitch in whatever you're able today to keep all AOTL's programs alive?
