THIS WEEKEND: 2022 National Book Festival
Saturday, September 3
Books bring us together! Come to the nation's capital over Labor Day weekend as we return to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center on Saturday, Sept. 3. If you can't join us in Washington, D.C. for a day of free talks and activities, several programs will be livestreamed, and video of all talks can be viewed online after the Festival concludes.
The Library's Thomas Jefferson Building and all exhibitions will be open for extended hours on Thursdays. Visitors are invited to enjoy happy hour drinks and food available for purchase in the Great Hall and the Jefferson Building's beautiful architecture while immersing themselves in the Library's exhibits, collections and programs.
Graffiti, Folklore and Community Life: Photographing Contemporary Culture
Wednesday, September 7, 4-5:50 p.m. ET
In this two-part presentation, renowned photojournalist Martha Cooperwill share some of her favorite photographs and discuss her projects, approaches, and reflections on photography and documentation.
Friday, September 9, 7:30-9 p.m. ET | Packard Campus Theater
Join us at the Packard Campus Theater for a showing of, "High Treason" (Graumont British, 1929). Continued war, an extended alcohol prohibition and a rail tunnel under the English Channel. This early talkie (also released as a silent) got some of it right and some not so much. B&W, 95 minutes. Set in the year: 1945.

Join us at the Packard Campus Theater for a showing of, "Back to the Future, Part II" (Universal, 1989). Marty McFly leaves the 1980s to avert disaster in his future children's lives in the 21st Century. Color, 108 minutes. Set in the year: 2015.

Join us at the Packard Campus Theater for a showing of, "Strange Days" (20th Century-Fox, 1995). A reoccurring theater in this month's films…. That the future will be cursed by war. This film depicted a future just four years away with a war in the street of Los Angeles. Color, 145 minutes. Set in the year: 1999.
Orientation to Legal Research Webinar Series: U.S. Case Law
Thursday, September 8, 11 a.m.-12 p.m. ET
Join legal reference librarians for an Orientation to Legal Research Webinar, this time focusing on "U.S. Case Law." This webinar will provide participants with information about legal sources and research techniques regarding U.S. case law, including information about the U.S. federal court system, the publication of court opinions, methods for researching case law, and information about locating records and briefs.
IMPORTANT NOTE: In order to enter the Library's Thomas Jefferson Building and experience the exhibition, each visitor must apply for and receive one of a limited number of free timed entry passes. For information on reserving tickets, visit loc.gov/visit, where visitors can review "Know Before You Go" guidelines and reserve their free passes.
