Your Guide to Exceptional Books
At BookBrowse, we believe that the very best books don't just entertain and engage, they also enlighten. They wrap us in their world, giving us a window into the lives of others or a mirror to reflect on ourselves.
No one has the time to read about the thousands of books that publish each month, let alone read them all. So BookBrowse seeks out and recommends the best new books, both fiction and nonfiction, with an emphasis on titles for book clubs and those who read to expand their horizons.

Since our founding in 1998, BookBrowse has remained independent, without affiliation to any publisher or bookseller, and without any investors influencing our opinions or ideas. What allows us to stay independent is the support of our individual members and libraries that subscribe so all librarians and patrons have access.

What's New
BookBrowse's "What's New" pages keep you up to date with the best new books and give you a sneak peek at books publishing soon.

Full access to upcoming titles is only for members but all visitors can browse the current titles and, if you subscribe to our free Publishing This Week newsletter, we'll send you an update each Sunday.

Reviews and "Beyond the Book" Articles
We feature books of particular note as "Today's Top Picks," giving you all the information you need to decide which are right for you, including a review, an excerpt and a "beyond the book" article that explores a historical, cultural or contextual aspect of each featured book.

Read-Alikes
If you've enjoyed a book and are looking for something similar, visit our "read-alikes" section where you'll find hand-selected recommendations for over 4,500 books and 3,500 authors.

Books by Genre, Time Period, Setting & Theme
You can search for books by fiction and nonfiction genres, time period, geographical setting and a wide range of themes. Full access to the category searches is one of the benefits of BookBrowse membership, but all visitors can see some results.

Resources for Book Clubs
The majority of books featured on BookBrowse are good choices for book clubs, and in our Book Club section you'll find over 1,800 books with reading guides. There's also a weekly "Top 10" list so you can see what books are trending. In addition, you can get advice on starting and running a book club, and join book club discussions in our online forum.

You might also wish to check out our research reports, which have received rave reviews from book club members, publishers, authors and librarians, and have been covered widely in the media. You'll find key findings in the "Book Club Advice" section of our blog.

And Much More
There is more to explore than we can cover in one email. For example, you'll find thousands of interviews in our author section and a useful pronunciation guide for author's names. Our blog is a great source of topical articles and reading lists, and in our fun section you'll find literary quizzes and giveaways.
How We Choose Books to Recommend
We start with the publishers' catalogs about six months ahead of publication, noting the books that look of interest. Then we monitor the early book industry reviews and, when available, overseas reviews to see which books are living up to expectations. In the process, we also add extra titles we missed in the catalogs.

We compile the best of these into a monthly list of about 70-100 books (the numbers fluctuate in line with the publishing seasons), covering both fiction and nonfiction, making sure to keep a particular eye out for lesser known and debut authors. Then we filter still further to review and recommend individual books of particular note.
