With the popularity of fitness trackers and at-home fitness equipment, the number of calories you burn during each workout is front and center. But how important is this metric and is it something you should really be paying attention to?

Personal trainer Stephanie Mansour says that while calories are interesting to note, they are not the sole indicator of how effective a workout is.

Gone are the days of the strict "calories in, calories out" methodology. For weight loss, and specifically for women with hormonal issues or weight challenges, that school of thought does not always yield the desired results.

Salmon is a lean protein but fatty enough that it won't dry out under high heat. Which means it's another meal we can cook up on a sheet pan. This Mediterranean-style dinner has plenty of heart-healthy fats, from the omega-3s in salmon and anchovies to the monounsaturated fats in the kalamata olives and extra virgin olive oil. Use wild-caught, center-cut salmon, if possible.
