A Message from Ann

A message from Congresswoman Ann Wagner

Dear ,

Last week, the House elected a strong Conservative who is ready to lead the House as Speaker. Mike Johnson is well-respected by Members from across the Republican Conference and has deep experience building the coalitions necessary to pass conservative policies that help American families.  Congress has a lot to get done before the end of the year, and Mike is well-known for putting in the work necessary to combat the radical policies Joe Biden is pushing on our communities.  He is an honorable man of faith and someone who deeply cares for his family.  Read my full statement on the Speaker election here.

I went live on the air with Marc Cox to talk about our Speaker election and what that means for the House moving forward.  Listen to our interview here.

I voted for, and the House passed, an important resolution underscoring our support for Israel during this time of crisis.  In the wake of the devastating terror attack by Hamas, it is critical we stand united with our strongest ally in the Middle East.  This resolution sends a message to the world that we stand with Israel and support its right to defend itself, especially in response to a brutal terror attack by Hamas.

The past few weeks have exposed a level of antisemitism in this nation that is frightening. Whether it is schoolchildren chanting for the genocide of Israelis by calling for removal from the river to the sea, or radicalized college students projecting antisemitic slogans on the side of school property, it is clear young Americans are being indoctrinated against Israel.  These actions must be condemned.

Watch my speech on the House Floor urging my colleagues to support this resolution that calls out Hamas for what it is: evil incarnate, a terrorist organization focused solely on the destruction of the Jewish people.

On the anniversary of 9/11, the Biden Administration announced a reckless and extremely dangerous “deal” with Iran, a state sponsor of terror. President Biden’s decision to release $6 billion in Iranian funds is nothing short of a windfall of cash and economic relief for Tehran to use for its military and to fund terrorist proxies like Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis.  This was a shameful payout to a regime that is responsible for countless deaths, including Americans.  Less than a month later, Hamas, an Iran-funded terrorist group, launched the deadliest attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust.

I asked our witnesses during a committee hearing last week about the details of this payment and how much Iran’s support of Hamas contributed to the deadly attack on October 7th.  Watch here.

I appreciated meeting with my constituent, Mark McMachan, a Northwestern Mutual advisor. We discussed the importance of retirement security and sound financial planning for American families. Congress must do more to empower Missourians with the ability to plan and invest in their futures.

House Republicans are reintroducing the Maximum Pressure Act, important legislation that will codify sanctions on Iran. The Trump Administration rightly took action to fully strangle the regime’s ability to support its terrorist proxies and pursue its violent and hateful agenda. Today, however, thanks to illegal oil sales to China that have been allowed to move forward with impunity, Iran’s foreign currency reserves have skyrocketed from $4 billion to $43 billion. Iran is the world’s number one state sponsor of terrorism, and it is clearly deeply involved in the tragic Hamas attack on Israel. The Maximum Pressure Act ends the current Administration’s strategy of appeasement towards Iran and helps our ally, Israel, by eliminating a key source of funding and support for Hamas.

My office continues to provide constituent services to those who need our help.  Whether it is a Medicare issue, a problem with the VA or the IRS, or even getting a passport expedited, we can help.  Call us at our district offices at 636-779-5449 or 636-231-1001 or visit our website here.

Sincerely,

Ann Wagner
Member of Congress
