Honoring the Mother of God We know it's a commandment to honor our mother and father. But how do we honor the Mother of God? Today is the feast of Mary, Mother of God. But she isn't just the Mother of Jesus. On the cross, He gave Mary to each of us as our Mother, "Behold your Mother." Jesus honors her by giving her this special position - the Mother of God is appointed the Mother of the Church. As our Mother we are commanded to honor her too! "Honor your Father and Mother!" We first honor Mary by attending Mass. In doing so, we start our year by acknowledging that Jesus, our salvation, first came from the womb of Mary. And, in a particular way we embrace the grace prepared for us in the new year by entering the womb of Mary (the Church) to be born anew as children of God. In addition we can honor Mary's by doing whatever she tells us. And Mary has been telling us a lot through her apparitions - particularly in the last century: pray the Rosary daily as a family, pray for sinners, wear the scapular, read the scriptures, attend Holy Mass. If you are looking to grow closer to Mary, we have two stunning, photographic encyclopedic level works on Mary's life and apparitions to help you to open your hearts to her messages and follow our Mother in Heaven. In addition, for children, we have a beautiful Mary doll and figurine to help them place Mary in a prominent position in their hearts, their rooms and their playtime. Most importantly let's honor Jesus today by honoring his Mother and our Mother, Mary! The Catholic.Store Team |
