The Bost Bulletin

Dear Friend,

Thank you to everyone who participated in our recent survey about key issues impacting Southern Illinois and our country. Your input is invaluable in guiding my work in Congress. As we prepare to head back to D.C. for the last few weeks of this congressional term, I wanted to share the results with you.

Election Integrity and Proof of Citizenship

The results of our survey show that an overwhelming 80% of respondents support the SAVE Act, a measure that would require proof of citizenship when registering to vote. I wholeheartedly agree, which is why I stood up to both parties’ leadership and opposed to government spending compromise in late September that didn’t include this election integrity reforms. Only U.S. citizens should vote in U.S. elections. Period.

Tax Relief

Tax cuts passed under the first Trump administration are set to expire at the end of next year. If they do, it would be a big hit to our pocketbooks. 68% of you expressed that it’s “very important” to see these cuts extended. Rest assured, I’ll continue fighting for lower taxes that benefit working families.

National Security

A full 76% of respondents are “very concerned” about the current state of our national security, and I share this concern deeply. From ongoing conflicts abroad to the challenges at our southern border, the threats seem endless. I’m committed to ensuring that we take the necessary steps to keep America safe. A big step in that process is completing the border wall, and 78% of respondents support finishing construction.

Energy

Finally, energy independence remains a strong priority for our district, with 72% strongly supporting expanded domestic energy production, including fossil fuels and biofuels. I believe in an all-of-the-above, American-made energy strategy that makes our country self-reliant once and for all. No more Green New Deal nonsense that kills jobs and hurts our economy.

Thank you once again for your trust and input. I’ll keep fighting for you in Congress to ensure Southern Illinois’s values are well represented.
