Good Morning! And here we were worrying that the market was cooling off after a few days of shorter blue dollar-volume bars. Yesterday more than made up for it, delivering several new highs, including one for a 996 I’ve been saying the market has been sleeping on for years. |

The Porsche 911 GT2 distills the raw, motorsport-focused ethos of the 996 GT3 and pairs it with the brute force of the 911 Turbo, creating the fastest and most extreme road-going 911 of its era. With 462 bhp at 5,700 rpm and a massive 457 lb-ft of torque at just 3,500 rpm, the GT2 rockets to 60 mph in 4.0 seconds and pushes on to a staggering 196 mph top speed. Its performance was not just theoretical either, as it lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife in an impressive 7:47, quicker than the contemporary 996 GT3 and cementing its reputation as a no-compromise, driver-focused supercar. |
This 2003 911 GT2 came finished in Basalt Black Metallic over a Black leather interior and showed just 20,155 miles. It was nicely optioned with carbon-fiber interior trim and door sills, a carbon and leather steering wheel, Speed Yellow seat belts, and an upgraded Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM) head unit. An excellent-looking example throughout, it was backed by plenty of service records and detailed images in the gallery. |
Over the past twelve months, 996 GT2 values have averaged $217,500, with a low of $146,000 and a high of $281,000 for an 18,000-mile Arctic Silver Metallic example. While our Spotlight Car showed slightly higher mileage, it was a nicely optioned example and just the second Black GT2 we’ve seen cross the block in that time. Buyers clearly liked what they saw, as it hammered at a final bid of $326,000, or $342,300 including the buyer’s premium, setting a new twelve-month high. |

I still can’t get over the fact that the car pictured above started out life as a 1968 912 Coupe. It has been modified with 935 K2 race car-style bodywork and is finished in Red with a MOMO-style livery and features some great details such as Lexan windows. The interior has been stripped and fitted with a roll cage, MOMO Daytona seats, a fire-suppression system, and a full custom dash. Out back, a 3.6-liter flat-six was sourced from a 964 and rebuilt with electronic fuel injection with individual throttle bodies and MoTeC M84 management, along with billet valve covers and an amber fiberglass shroud. Surprisingly, it didn’t top the $94,253 high for a modified 912, but it came close, hammering at a final bid of $90,912.
This custom 1993 928 GTS 5-Speed, on the other hand, absolutely crushed the current twelve-month high for a modified 928. Finished in Blue over a Light Gray leather interior, this example came fitted with a 5.0-liter M28/47 V8 from a 928 GT rebuilt to a 6.5-liter displacement and featured an upgraded fuel system, aftermarket management software, a double-disc clutch, and a hydraulic throwout bearing. Stock examples put it in the $71-107,600 range, but it topped even those, selling at a final bid of $121,928.
Keeping with the 928 theme, this 1981 928 5-Speed showed 76,126 miles on the clock and came finished in Grand Prix White over a Black leather interior. It benefited from plenty of work under prior ownership with an engine rebuild at 61k along with a rebuilt limited-slip differential and rebuilt 5-Speed manual transmission. Estimates put it around $30,000 into the upper $40s, but it failed to sell at a final bid of $42,500. It currently has a $65,000 Buy Now, but for that money, you’d need a special exterior color or Pasha interior, even with the amount of work this one has.

This 1977 911S Coupe has crossed the block a few times over the last few years with it selling back in 2024 at a final bid of $100,000, but it sure didn’t look like the car above. Since that sale, it has been modified in a 934-style by Air Cooled Classics with a widebody finished in Chalk along with a 964-sourced, twin-plug flat-six enlarged to 4.0 liters, Bilstein RSR coilover suspension, custom-welded chassis stiffening, enhanced chassis stabilization, upgraded brakes, 17” Rotiform 917 wheels, and much more. In its current guise, it failed to sell at a final bid of $110,737 with an asking price of $305,000 post-auction a few months ago. The highest price I have on record for an early-G-body custom is $215,000. We’ll see if this one can top that here next week.
I love Nordic Gold Metallic, and I adore a Cocoa leather interior. But together? Yeah, I think it works. This 2009 911 Carrera S Coupe is finished in said color combination, comes from its original owner, and shows 73,000 miles on the odometer. It looks to be in nice condition inside and out and comes with plenty of service history along with a DME report. Mileage comps put it in the $50,700 to $71,300 range, but color could definitely help here.
If you have a little FOMO from missing out on the restored 30th Anniversary 911 a few days ago, here’s our chance at another, although without all the work of the previous. Showing 56,000 km (~35k miles), this 1993 911 Carrera 4 Coupe 30th Anniversary Jubilee Edition comes finished in Viola Metallic over a Rubicon Gray leather interior and looks to be in nice condition with plenty of recent service since being imported in 2023. While it won’t bring anywhere near the $340,964 we saw the other day, a number in the $200’s wouldn’t surprise me at all.
