Good Morning! While the market appeared to bounce back yesterday, there were still some deals to be had. Quite a few cars surprised to the downside, especially given the strong results we’ve seen recently. |

The 356A Carrera GS (Gran Sport) was the road-focused counterpart to Porsche’s competition-spec GT models. While it shared the exotic four-cam Type 547 engine with the Carrera GT, the GS retained many of the comfort and convenience features expected in a street car, including full interior trim, sound insulation, and standard equipment. The result was a car that delivered the performance and engineering of Porsche’s race-winning four-cam engine in a package that was equally at home on public roads, making it one of the most refined and desirable 356 variants of its era. |
This 1957 356A Carrera GS Sunroof Coupe came refinished in its factory shade of Silver over a Black leather interior. While the paintwork was completed roughly twelve years ago and the interior was reupholstered in the early 2000s, the replacement 1.5-liter Type 547/1 four-cam engine was overhauled by renowned specialist Karl Hloch in Germany in 2002. Accompanying the car were FIVA identity cards, a 2018 appraisal by Carrera expert Rolf Sprenger, invoices from the engine rebuild, and copies of previous ownership documents tracing the car through Colorado, Japan, Belgium, and Germany, providing an impressive history file. |
Over the past twelve months, we’ve seen just one 356A Carrera sell at auction here in the U.S., a Carrera GT that brought $511,000 at Bonhams last month. There was also a Carrera GS that sold for just over $400,000, though that example crossed the block at Gooding’s Retromobile sale in Paris earlier this year. Our Spotlight Car sold at a final bid of $375,000. If you ask me, that’s an absolute steal for a four-cam Carrera. |

With the way 981 Boxster Spyders have been going, I was super-surprised to see this 2016 Boxster Spyder 6-Speed bring just $119,000. Finished in Rhodium Silver Metallic over a Black interior, this example showed just 1,980 miles on the odometer and looked to be in very nice condition with a clean and clear CarFax, plenty of pictures in the gallery, and recent service history. Comps had it in the $122-135,000 range. Well bought on a model that is 📈.
Another absolute steal was this modified 1973 911T Targa 5-Speed. Refinished in Silver, this example was fitted with rear fender flares along with a 911S-style front bumper with an interior featuring Black Recaro seats with houndstooth inserts. Out back was a 3.2-liter from an ‘86 911 which was installed in 2020 along with an Eisenbud ECU and fuel tank, oil cooler, and wiring block sourced from the donor car. It had plenty of service along with leakdown and compression test results available in the gallery. It sold at a final bid of $105,000, which was at the absolute bottom of my estimate this time last week.
This 2005 911 Carrera S Coupe 6-Speed came finished in Black over Black and featured a rebuilt flat-six bumped out to 4.0-liters via an LN Engineering “Nickies” kit in 2024. Showing 70,000 miles on the clock, stock examples sit in the $48-61,000 range. This car was right in the mix with a final bid of $51,997, but failed to meet reserve. Probably looking for something closer to top of “stock” market here.

This is just the third 997.1 GT2 we’ve seen at auction this year, with the first failing to sell at a final bid of $373,000 with 7k on the clock back in February followed by the sale of a 17k-mile car for $368,000 at Amelia in March. This 2008 911 GT2 shows just under 9k and comes finished in Black on Black and is equipped with PCCB brakes, Sport Chrono Plus, and Carbon Buckets. With those two as comps and the way 997s are trending these days, I think there’s a shot at topping the current twelve-month high of $499,000 set back in December of last year. I doubt we get another “deal” day here.
This 1984 911 Turbo Coupe is a wild Slant-Nose conversion with 935-style lights in the bumper and an enormous wing out back. Showing 53k, this Black on Tan Turbo has also been modified with a K27 turbocharger, twin-plug heads, an Electromotive ignition system, an Andial-Garretson intercooler, an HKS boost controller, a B&B exhaust system, a front-mounted oil cooler, and more. It does have a TMU branded title, but I don’t think that will matter much here as your not buying mileage. Expect bids somewhere between $120,000 and $220,000.
While we see plenty of off-road modified Cayennes, we rarely see a Macan modified like this 2015 Macan S. Finished in White over a Black and Garnet Red leather interior, modifications include 19″ Black Rhino wheels, a suspension-lift kit, a roof rack, and auxiliary lighting. With 122,000 miles, it’s up there. Stock examples sell between $9,000 and $15,000. We’ll see what a modified example brings next week.
