2009 US Youth Soccer ODP Girls Thanksgiving Interregional Schedule Announced
US Youth Soccer ODP Girls regional teams in the 1993-1995 age groups, U.S. Under-15 National Team and Costa Rica Youth National Team to participate
FRISCO, Texas (November 2, 2009) - The annual US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program http://www.usyouthsoccer.org/link.asp?l=7&mid=698003&lid=98599 (US Youth Soccer ODP) Girls Thanksgiving Interregional is scheduled at the North Community Park and Coral Glades High School Sportsplex in Coral Springs, Fla. Teams will compete Nov. 22-27, 2009.
Continuing its tradition of elite play, competition and player development, youth from the nation's elite player identification and development program, US Youth Soccer ODP, will train and compete in front of national and leading collegiate coaches to maximize their exposure.
The US Youth Soccer ODP Girls Thanksgiving Interregional will represent teams in the 1993 – 1995 age groups including the U.S. Under-15 National Team and the Costa Rica Youth National Team.
"It's [US Youth Soccer ODP] valuable because all four regions coordinate with the states to seek out some of the best players in the country," said Mike Dickey, U.S. Under-15 Girls National Team head coach. "This kind of organization helps make sure that as many talented players as possible are identified and can be seen by the national team coaches. They are also able to participate in very well run camps that are designed to improve the level of these talented young players. I think one of the most important things the players get from participating in a program such as US Youth Soccer ODP is that it can lead to international experience at a young age and that is the No. 1 benefit to them and the national team programs. They also get exposed to some of the best coaches in the country while also playing with some of the best players in their regions. That helps players grow in many ways on the field."
The 1994 and 1995 age groups will play two 40-minute halves and the 1993 age group will play two 45-minute halves. Teams will be allowed seven substitutes with no re-entry.
Rosters for the US Youth Soccer ODP Girls Thanksgiving Interregional will be released on Nov. 9, 2009. New US Youth Soccer ODP uniforms http://www.usyouthsoccer.org/link.asp?l=9&mid=698003&lid=98599 will be unveiled at the event. This is the first time that the US Youth Soccer ODP Boys and Girls regional teams will have customized uniforms by adidas. US Youth Soccer ODP uniforms are part of the adidas mi Team line allowing unique customization in addition to great performance. Each player receives home and away uniforms, warm-ups and cleats from adidas.
