Session initiation protocol (SIP) trunking has been around for a long time, and has offered businesses a great way to get access to a host of communications services without needing a lot of new equipment in place. Italtel, meanwhile, is taking things one step farther, and has brought out a new SIP trunking as a service option powered by two newer slices of technology: network functions virtualization (NFV) and software-defined networking (SDN).
