Following the trend towards making technology simpler, more user-friendly, and more intuitive, the communications world is in the midst of a revolutionary change, where developing applications is moving from an arduous task of writing code to a much simpler GUI-based process. The timing couldn't be better, as the need to bring new real-time communications applications to market faster, make them more scalable, and able to integrate them into other services, apps, and websites, is creating havoc for those who aren't prepared. Delivering solutions in the traditional telephony world was a fairly easy concept. Very few people would start out to develop their own PBX from scratch. However, the new real-time web technologies like WebRTC, combined with the simplicity and power of JavaScript programming and the new features and capabilities of both HTML5 and native mobile operating systems have opened the door to developers creating a complete real-time solution from scratch. Let's talk LBs for a minute. No, I don't mean Linebacker football fans; the LB I'm referring to is a load balancer, which is a key component to today's communications demands. The current market is competitive, with a cornucopia of options, but would you rather choose an all-pro or a practice squad solution? Awards and recognition serve as a good way to separate the contenders from the pretenders, and recently TMC unveiled the recipients of the 2016 Communications Solutions Products of the Year Award, which offers a good place to start scouting. VoIP service providers have a unique requirement today to not only deliver service that is optimal and effective, but they must also provide solutions that work easily and meet the needs of resellers and end users. Some highlighted changes to all three apps include the ability to quickly share your documents and see who else is working on them in real time, and the option to find and open files others have recently shared with you. PowerPoint also received some extra updates. It has a new look that makes reading presentations on your phone much easier. You can now drag and drop to reorder slides and double-tap to edit them, which is incredibly helpful. The program also now has a find icon to help you search for individual words or phrases in your presentation. At some point, we must run out of telephone numbers. The 10-digit system we currently use, of area code and seven-digit number, must inevitably stop producing number combinations just shy of the 10 billion mark, though we've likely got quite some way to go before we reach that point. With the growth of cloud-based systems, like cloud-based contact centers, the ceiling starts looking just a bit more inevitable. That's less of a problem for NewVoiceMedia, who recently started working with Voxbone to supply direct inward dialing (DID) numbers to allow for a fully global reach.
