I've noticed an interesting trend with Google AdWords
advertisers over these past few weeks -- and it's because
they're buying an ad, not because of the ads themselves.
Confused? Don't worry -- it makes sense when you read on below!

MEASURE TO MAKE MONEY
My business recently employed a Google AdWords expert, and she's
transformed clients' businesses tremendously in a short space of
time. The funny thing is that the transformation has little to
do with the effect of the Google ads. It has everything to do
with testing the ads.
You see, managing Google AdWords (or any marketing for that
matter) properly requires regular analysis of the promotion's
impact. An expert knows this and really pushes the reporting
side of things.
Now, because our clients receive detailed reports on their
advertising and the results, they've started to apply the same

SITE THEFT PAYBACK STRATEGIES
wii mentions in the forums that instances of his web site
designs being copied [1] is on the up. Unfortunately, this is a
fairly common occurrence, as it's so easy to rip a site.
He asks for some advice and mentions encrypting the HTML code.
Now, encrypting the code is possible, but people will always
find a way to copy your site if they wish to. A quick email to
the hosting company is generally all it takes to have the
offending site removed.
But let's take a different view now. Let's use this
web site thief for our own ends because, if you look at it,
there's a great marketing opportunity here. My advice?
- Step 1: Make a list of all the sites that copy your
sites.
- Step 2: Use that list.
I'd imagine that would make a nice news story -- "Local
web developer so good his designs are stolen by thieves the
world over."
I'd certainly mention that on your own site, wii (along with
screenshots of course).
I'd also send letters to the owners of these copied sites (if
they're not the thief him or herself) to indicate that they must
be interested in your web design services since they love the
thief's designs so much.
I'd probably even use the thefts as a basis for some ongoing
marketing: "We're so good that 10 other designers have stolen
our sites!"
The end result is the same: the offending web sites are removed.
But, this way, at least you receive a significant benefit from
the theft.

CONVERTING IMAGES TO VIDEO
I'm a big fan of using video, and I recently started using
Animoto [1] -- a very cool site where you upload your images,
select a song, and hit the button. Within minutes, your images
are made into a groovy video synchronised with the song.

videos, and you can purchase a yearly, all-access pass for
$30. If you want to make very quick, easy, high-quality
