It helps to have a trustworthy someone to coax you into
doing things outside your comfort zone: think the streetwise
buddy who introduced you to mailbox baseball, or your creepy
step-uncle who introduced you to...Thai food! Holding your
hand into the batsh*t crazy world of aerobatics, Exceptional
Aircraft.
EA's the baby of Clark Harrell, an ex-Air Force Supersonic
T-38 pilot who, for the price of gas plus a small fee, wants
to fling you around in the high performance acrobatic prop
planes he's now into, and, if you're so inclined, actually
teach you to fly like him, then find you a plane to
purchase...hahaha. For the him-flying options, you've got
two dual-seat (you in front, Clark behind) aircraft choices:
the Pitts S2C, an ultra-maneuverable biplane that can reach
169 knots, or the Extra 300: a superlight monoplane w/
almost unlimited range of motion that consistently spanks
the aerobatic competition worldwide, and'll have your
insides so devilishly spun around, you'll wish he flew one
of the crappy ones that loses. Flight plans're totally
customizable, but Clark suggests starting off with some
low-speed touring of scenic Mt. Diablo and its surrounding
foothills, before launching into any combo of sweeping
loops, lazy eights, corkscrews, barrel rolls, etc, all
fairly insane and capable of exerting force of up to 5 Gs,
but zero No Limit Soldiers.
If you take a liking to all this, Clark's a certified flight
instructor who can have you flying solo in six months, after
which he'll hook you up with flying clubs (where you fly
sweet planes that aren't yours), or broker the purchase of
your very own plane from a manufacturer or private owner, so
you can buzz your uncle's place and let him know Pad See Yu.
