Hidden Menu

To discover the finer things in life, one must sometimes
scratch the surface, like the time you scratched Beneath The
Surface, and realized that sometimes, GZA works way better
as a frisbee. Discover the delicacies your mouth's been
missing, with Hidden Menu.

From a crack team of foodies with a penchant for the
obscure, HM's a just-birthed blog dedicated to unearthing
SF's restaurants' off-menu secrets, expressly penned to
bring its readers back to that magical moment when you first
heard about "Animal Style", and it had nothing to do with
George Steele having sex. Early highlights:

Poleng's Milkfish Belly (aka Bangus): "After the rest of the
fish is used to make other dishes, the belly is leftover and
can be grilled up as a fatty treat for Poleng friends &
family. This bangus belly was served with roasted garlic
flakes, caramelized onions, and minced red and green
peppers...Best consumed over rice" (go ahead and read that
again: it doesn't say bangbus).

Pizzeria Delfina's Fried Calzone: "What it is: A classic
calzone that's fried not baked, just as God intended...It's
good but heavy. If you tackle the fried calzone, make sure
to have the appetite of a middle linebacker", but hopefully
not the delicate football analogies of a Hidden Menu blogger.

Starbucks: "The limits to Starbucks 'secret menu' are merely
the limits of your imagination. You can even bring
supplements from home and ask the barista to please include
that in your drink". They go on to explain how to have
'bucks make you a "Cap'n Crunch Frappuccino", but omit how
to avoid murder by barista.

Still in its infancy, HM's only got a handful of posts so
far, but stay tuned for once-a-week updates. Also, reader
contributions are welcome, though "all of these submissions
will be edited and fact checked", not that you need to worry
about that, since you're a Genius.
