Growing up, I frequently had more disposable income than my parents. This was partly because they were saddled with, oh, feeding me, and partly because I made a mint babysitting for every family in our neighborhood.
In fact, I'm pretty sure I could have had a second job as my parents' banker, except that if I tried to charge interest rates, I would have been grounded.
Friends of mine who were less child-oriented worked everywhere from golf courses to parents' offices to the local stable. And there was always that one kid with a beard who worked at a bar, but I'm pretty sure they don't allow that anymore.
Nowadays, I hear about summer jobs from the other side. My friends who are parents keep me updated on the struggle to make sure that junior doesn't spend all summer long watching reality TV.
Then again, sometimes junior needs no motivation. These ideas are good leaping off points for the budding entrepreneur who deigns to live in your house and call you Mom and Dad.
