Let's stock up for our next Care Package Project Pack Day on April 30, 2011! Since
we cleaned out our warehouse of goods on our last pack day, we need to fill it back
up again! Help us by purchasing baby wipes and toothbrushes for the Marines overseas.
It's important to remember that the Marines are without the comforts of home that
we often take for granted. They rarely have access to shower facilities, so it's
crucial that they receive these basic hygiene items. We would like 1200 packages
of baby wipes and 1200 toothbrushes so that every Marine on our list will receive
one of each item.

Boy Scout Collects 16 Boxes of CPP Content!
Another Successful Eagle Scout Project
Will, from Maryland, coordinated with our Care Package Project to complete his Eagle
Scout Project for his Boy Scout troop.
His goal was to collect 23,000 cubic inches of content to include in care packages
for Marines. He is not quite finished collecting, but so far he has 16 large boxes
of donations measuring about 88,000 cubic inches and weighing approximately 780
pounds.
Will and his father are currently making arrangements with UPS to ship the boxes
to our Care Package Project warehouse. Will collected cash donations to cover shipping
costs, and he said he will mail leftover donations in the form of a check.
He will also be sending 20 cards and letters to include in the care packages. Will
and his father estimate that over 300 people made donations of either content of
money. What a huge show of support! We thank Will for all of his hard work (he
spent about 250 volunteer hours on this project) as well as those that donated to
the Marines!

The Marines Appreciate Your Generosity and Support
We would like to express our appreciation for all of the care package content and
letters to Marines we received last month, as they ensure that our deployed Marines
are getting the support they need. We apologize that we cannot list all donors,
but below are a few we wanted to highlight.
- Sabrina from DeVry University in California donated 10 boxes of personal care
items, food, games and batteries.
- St. Patrick Catholic School in Pennsylvania donated 95 handmade cards and letters.
- Robert & Sheryl from Kansas donated 800 toothbrushes.
- Andy from First United Methodist Church in Florida donated 12 large boxes of food
and personal care items.
- Henry C. Schaumburg Math & Science Academy Explorer donated 51 handwritten Valentine's
Day cards.

in honor of LCpl. Leon Deraps at the 3rd Annual Memorial Scholarship event on May
7, 2011.
Leon was KIA in Iraq in 2006, and his parents set up the Jamestown Memorial Scholarship
Fund in memory of their son's sacrifice. All proceeds from the event benefit this
fund.
The Marine Parents office staff will be participating in the event with a goal of
raising $500 to contribute to the Jamestown Memorial Scholarship Fund. Put on your
walking shoes and come out and join us!
Registration for the walk/run/ride costs $25 and includes a T-shirt.
The event will take place in Jamestown, Missouri, and sign-in will be open from
8 to 8:45 a.m.

Trivia Night Held by the Samuel F. Gearhart Detachment
The Marine Corps League in Jefferson City, Missouri, is holding a trivia night,
open to the public, on March 12th at 7 p.m. Dinner and drinks will begin at 5:30
p.m.
Proceeds support projects of the Samuel F. Gearhart Detachment Marine Corps League,
