SEMINAR BREAKDOWN: February 1: SIP TRUNK ACADEMY (Certificate Program) 11AM: What is SIP Trunking? What is SIP trunking? What are the benefits - to the enterprise, to resellers/VARs and operators? This session will be an introduction to the what and why of SIP trunks and how it futureproofs the network to deploy Unified Communications applications. 11:30AM: SIP Trunking in the Customer Network Discussion on what's required on the PBX side for successful, secure SIP trunking. 12PM: SIP Trunking in the Cloud Cloud-based applications are on the rise. Hosted SIP trunking is an opportunity to tap into this application by leveraging the expertise of a seasoned technology partner. Microsoft will discuss how to successfully connect with the Microsoft Office suite of applications hosted on Microsoft Office 365. Broadvox will talk about their hosted SIP trunking service, and ShoreTel will present their cloud-based solutions. 1:30PM: Overview of an Internet+ Model SIP trunking is now bringing telephony-over-IP together, without having to use old TDM lines and the PSTN. What is the wayforward to also bringing Unified Communication together, getting all the islands together and going beyond the plain old telephony service (POTS)? We should learn from the Internet's success and ask why our smartphones are super-smart in everything, except in being a phone. An Internet+ Model can e.g. give us telepresence and modern communication in our pockets, between all UC islands, Skype islands etc. We are closer than ever in being able to make this happen, also including the current POTS as well as the Internet. Which telco will first give us an Internet+ connection? 2PM: SIP Trunking with Legacy PBXs Learn how to set up SIP trunks using legacy, non SIP-aware PBXs. You don't need to invest in a new IP-PBX right away to implement SIP trunking. Dialogic will discuss solutions for deploying SIP trunks quickly, cost-effectively and in a secure manner using traditional, legacy equipment. 2:30PM: Trunking with Microsoft Lync What is Lync? How does it support SIP trunking? Microsoft will talk about the Lync platform and provide an overview on how to successfully deploy SIP trunks with Lync. 3PM: How to Set Up a SIP Trunk The nuts and bolts of how to deploy SIP trunks. A real "how-to" session focused on case studies, Fax-over-SIP trunks and more. 4PM: Deployment Demo February 2: UNIFIED COMMUNICATIONS DAY (Certificate Program) 9AM: TOWN HALL MEETING: Unified Communications We'll demystify Unified Communications by having industry visionaries answer questions straight from the audience about Unified Communications. What's available today? Which applications provide the greatest benefit? 12PM: Video-over-IP Video-over-IP is transforming business communications. This session will delve into case studies and implementation solutions. 1PM: Video-over-IP: Driving the Need for an Internet+ Videocalling (telepresence) equipment vendors and service providers have joined up with the OVCC to create a global video communication network and service. What's also needed is an Internet+ transport network that can carry the services they are offering, following clear and established standards. The network equipment, capacity and terminals already exist. The Model for creating an Internet+ is outlined. 2PM: Fax-over-IP Block This hour is a block of back-to-back sessions on FaxoverIP, or FoIP. We will also review the activities of the SIP Forum FoIP Interoperability Task Group. This will demonstrate that any negative issues experienced with using SIP Trunks are the result of FoIP implementation and not due to the T.38 protocol or SIP trunking itself. The goal is to position FoIP over SIP Trunking in the best, but accurate light, and eliminate the confusion in this area. 3PM: TOWN HALL MEETING: SIP, UC and Security Get the lowdown on SIP, UC and security during this Town Hall Meeting, where industry visionaries will sit on this panel - no presentations - and take questions directly from the audience. Can SIP trunks really be secure? What threats are out there? Which security solutions work? Which solutions are critical to have, and what's just hype? Any and all questions are fair game! February 3: SIP Trunk - UC Boot Camp (Certificate Program) 9AM: BIRDS OF A FEATHER SESSION: Internet+ (Session Will Be Held In Room A208) At the beginning of the VoIP era, no one suspected we would end up in a POTS-over-IP world, where the 100-year-old telephony infrastructure became implemented as an overlay network over IP, not even capable of faxing anymore, instead of replacing POTS with better telephony services and using the abilities of a global IP network (the Internet). We will discuss these issues and how to get to an Internet+ Model, which can replace the old PSTN and allow the new services that terminals and the network already are capable of (e.g. telepresence calling), so we don't have to use smartphones to make a POTS call asking the called party to start his Skype client.
