| | | Eastbound and Down
For watchers of the popular show on HBO - sorry to disappoint you, but today's blog is not referencing those crazy guys. Maybe we can come back to it another time. I was actually referring to: "Eastbound and down, loaded up and truckin'," which references the movie Smokey and the Bandit and was part of the lyrics written and performed by country singer and co-star Jerry Reed. After all, we're going into the trucking business today. Stocks in the trucking industry are up an average of more than 16% this year. One in particular has caught our eye. With the solid retail figures on Monday, the transportation of goods to consumers could be a good place to be. The downside from the big-picture perspective has a lot to do with the cost of gasoline, government regulations, and the relatively high debt levels found with most of the companies in this space. Nonetheless, this stock offers good upside and has been trending nicely of late, which, as we have noted recently, is a key to trading success in corrective phases of the stock market.
Behind the Scenes
I blew it and I am really sorry. Look, if I'm going to get up and crow when I make good stock picks, I better be able to man up and admit mistakes. It's only fair, right? Hopefully that attitude garners your respect and attention and you will continue to return to "the Junction" and read our daily blogs.
Anyway, what I am apologizing for today is not for a stock pick that went awry. Instead, it is the fact that I became uncharacteristically cautious and switched the order of some of the stocks we have featured on these pages. It's not as if what we introduced was such a travesty. I hate being wrong. Frankly, I feel like a schmuck because we could have been heroes for you.
To make up for it, I am going to give you an insider's view of what happened not just with these situations but with how we are approaching our future recommendations. This type of intel could prove to be invaluable down the road.
