Society has become increasingly mobile, demanding more bandwidth to handle the applications needed (or wanted) to get through a workday. Whether it's mobile television or mobile Internet, bandwidth is at a premium, and many backhaul infrastructures aren't set up to handle the demand. This is where wireless backhaul solutions are stepping in to upgrade voice and data infrastructures.



iPass Inc., a major enterprise high-speed wide area networking (WAN) platform provider, announced that Informatica Corporation, an independent provider of data integration software, has selected its Open Mobile service to provide seamless Wi-Fi connectivity to its workforce. Our interest in iPass Open Mobile lies in its ability to keep our global workforce securely and cost-effectively connected, Tony Young, senior vice president and chief information officer at Informatica, said in a release.



Ixia recently announced it will launch support for the fifth generation of Wi-Fi using a revolutionary IEEE 802.11 architecture. The new architecture will offer a more thorough approach to the validation of Wi-Fi devices and networks.



In agriculture, it's hard to make changes as technology improves, but some companies try their hardest to stay above the competition. Cooke Aquaculture recently invested in Estelesolv's Telemanager platform to manage the company's fleet of wireless devices.



'White space spectrum' refers to the unused or underused part of the currently available spectrum, such as the space created by inactive TV channels. Several efforts are in place to apply the white space for improving broadband coverage.



Edgewater Wireless Systems Inc., a company that develops and commercializes leading-edge technologies and intellectual property for the communications market, recently announced in a press release that it has entered a partnership agreement with Nomadix, a wholly-owned subsidiary of DOCOMO InterTouch.
