Dear Listener, Welcome to Public Radio Music Month! WICN is joining with other NPR music stations around the country in celebrating great music on the radio and the cultural impact it has. We actually began the celebration this past weekend with a live performance on Saturday afternoon from our studios. And we'll stretch the celebration a bit into the month of May with the Karrin Allyson concert at Tuckerman Hall on May 3. You're invited to the WICN studios for an open house on Thursday, April 18 from 5:30 - 7:30 pm. Enjoy food, music, and fun. RSVP to: astha@wicn.org. It'll be a chance to meet your favorite hosts and other WICN listeners. We hope you can come! | | 508-752-0700 | |

| | Artist of the Month Karrin Allyson April's Artist of the Month, Karrin Allyson, is rightly considered one of the premier performers in Jazz today. Her professional career as a jazz pianist and vocalist began in the 90's when she moved to Kansas City and recorded her first album, I Didn't Know About You, in 1992. To date, Karrin Allyson has recorded twelve additional studio albums and has been regarded as the premier female jazz vocalist of her generation. Legendary jazz critic Gary Giddens notes, "Allyson coolly stakes her claim. She brings a timbre that is part ice, part grain - incisive, original, and emotionally convincing." Her music will be showcased during all of April here at WICN. She also performs live in Worcester, MA at the Tuckerman Hall on Friday, May 3 @ 8PM. Tickets are available by calling WICN Public Radio at (508) 752-0700 or online at wicn.org. | |
