Upsetting the Status Quo: New Perspectives on Corrections, Reentry & Recidivism |
JOIN US THURSDAY EVENING! Rehabilitative Services and Probation and Parole: Why Collaboration is Critical Presented by: Ellis McSwain This session will give an overview of why a collaborative effort is critical between the medical, mental health and substance abuse treatment providers and the Division of Probation and Parole. Rehabilitative services are not only provided to clients during their incarceration but it is Probation and Parole's responsibility to ensure that those who need treatment have access to receive it. It is even more critical when a parolee is released from prison and communication has not occurred between the providers and the Probation and Parole staff so that continuity of care is ensured. Without good communication and collaboration, we are not doing our jobs in promoting offender success. |
